Revolutionary Regenerative Medicine Volumetric 3D bioprinted Livers for Individualized Drug Testing

Researchers achieve a breakthrough in regenerative medicine with volumetric 3-D bioprinted livers

A team of researchers from Utrecht University successfully created working livers by using a new ultrafast volumetric 3-D bioprinting technique.

Volumetric bioprinting, using visible light tomography and volumetric printing, enabled the successful print of stem cell units in miniature by making them \”transparent\”, meaning they retained their ability to perform biological functions.

The liver units could be printed in less than 20 second and mimic the key processes of toxin removal that our livers do in our bodies. This opens up new possibilities for regenerative medicines and personalized drug tests.
