The latest Swiss security guard is a two-wheeled robotic robot
Some would even say that security guards are necessary. They can be expensive, and there aren’t nearly enough to cover all the places they should be.
People in Europe have seen a robot patrol developed by a robotics startup from ETH Zurich, called Ascento. This bot could replace human security guards soon. The machine is currently working as a security guard for Swiss security company Securitas AG.
The video, released by ETH Zurich, shows how the new security guard can patrol multiple locations without missing a beat (pun intended!). This new bot is clearly capable of monitoring many different locations, but can it provide the same level of attention as a human?
