Mayor of New York City says that the use of robot dogs in New York’s garage collapse incident is justified.
The critics are still not convinced.
The New York Police Department announced earlier this month that it would be introducing two robotic dogs to its force. Rights activists were opposed to the move, citing concerns about surveillance. The New York Times reports that the Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, has cited an incident involving a garage collapse in which a robotic canine was used to search and rescue.
Interesting Engineering has covered Boston Dynamics extensively over the years. Spot, their robotic dog, is designed to be used in adverse conditions and equipped with sensors and abilities.
