Robot chef learns how to cook from food videos
Researchers have developed a robot ‘chef,’ who can watch cooking videos and then recreate the dish.
Researchers from the University of Cambridge programmed a robotic chef using a book of eight salad recipes. The robot could identify the recipe being made by a human after watching a video.
The videos also helped the robot to incrementally expand its cookbook. The robot created a new recipe all on its own at the end of the test. The results of the experiment, published in IEEE Access, show that video content is a rich and valuable source of information for automated food production. It could also make robot chefs more affordable and easier to deploy.
