Amazon opens robotic fulfillment centre in Connecticut
Amazon has opened a robotics center in Windsor (Connecticut), where robots and workers will work together to process orders.
A spokesperson for Amazon told Supply Chain Dive that the 3.8 million-square-foot facility would have \”thousands\” of robotic systems, including mobile robots and robotic handlers. These systems will help employees deliver products to customers every day.
The facility will employ more than 2,000 people, and it will primarily handle smaller shipments, such as books, electronic devices, and toys. According to a release, the company began processing customer orders and delivering them in November 2022.
