Sam Altman Raises $115 million for Worldcoin Crypto Project, Despite Privacy Concerns

OpenAI’s Sam Altman raises over $115 million dollars for Worldcoin crypto project

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who co-founded a cryptocurrency project with Reuters, raised $115m in a Series C round of funding led by Blockchain Capital.

Worldcoin is a project that aims to give crypto tokens to individuals \”just because they are unique\”. The project uses an iris scanner to verify their identity. After that, they receive the tokens free of charge.

Worldcoin is under fire for privacy concerns. Edward Snowden, a former U.S. Intelligence contractor, responded to Altman’s tweet about the project’s launch in 2021 by saying, \”Don’t catalog eyeballs\”.
