Scientists engineer longevity in cells with a hack that extends life span

Cells naturally degrade with age, which is why we don’t feel as young and mobile at 80 as we do at 8. Scientists have discovered a way to increase cell longevity and lifespan using a synthetic genetic clock.

The team at the University of California San Diego believes that their work can be used to help humans age more healthily.

Researchers were able, by’rewiring the yeast cells’ to increase their average lifespan of 82 percent. This is a promising step in treating and controlling age-related diseases.
