Scientists put a worm brain in a Lego robot body

The brain is nothing more than an electrical signal collection. If we learn how to catalog them, then in theory you could upload a person’s consciousness into a computer and allow it to live forever, like in the Johnny Depp movie Transcendence.

It’s not science fiction. Scientists are nowhere near achieving this feat with humans, and even if they did, it would be fraught with ethical issues. But there’s no better example than when an international team managed to achieve just that with Caenorhabditis.

C. elegans, a nematode that has been studied extensively by scientists. We know their entire genome and have analysed their nervous system many times.
