Researchers discovered a technique to de-age skin cells that were 30 years younger
It is not the first time that a successful de-aging cell research has been conducted. Shinya Yamanaka – a Nobel Prize-winning stem cell scientist – genetically reprogrammed mouse skin cells in 2006 and transformed them into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). These cells had the ability to become any type of cell in the body. Yamanaka’s method takes 50 days to reprogram cells back to their biological age. Gill’s method took only 13 days.
Gill stated in a press release that \”our results represent a major step forward in the understanding of cell reprograming.\” We have shown that old cells can be rejuvenated and still retain their function.
