Senolytic drugs can be improved to improve safety and efficiency in removing senescent cells

Refining Senolytic drugs to be less toxic and more effective

Researchers have found a way to change an existing cancer drug that has toxic side effects to something less toxic for blood platelets, and more effective in removing harmful senescent and inflammatory cells from mice, which is one of the main reasons why we age.

What are senescent or aging cells?

As you get older, more and more of your cells will enter a state called senescence. Senescent cells don’t divide or support tissues in which they reside; they instead emit potentially harmful chemical signals, encouraging nearby healthy cells into the same senescent condition. They can cause many problems, including a reduction in tissue repair and chronic inflammation.
