Senolytics Help Recovery After a Heart Attack
Researchers have shown in a recent study that the presence senescent (old) cells contributes to the aging of cardiovascular systems, especially the heart.
Senescent cells, senolytics
As you age, more and more of your cells will enter a state called senescence. Senescent cells don’t divide or support tissues in which they reside; they instead emit a variety of potentially harmful chemical signals that are associated with inflammation, known as senescence-associated secretory phenotypes (SASP). SASPs can also cause other healthy cells nearby to enter the same state of senescence.
