Spotify’s Next Step: AI-Powered Host Read Ads

Spotify could use AI to create podcast ads that sound as if they are read by a real person

Spotify’s AI-DJ is a product that allows an AI to be trained on a human voice. The company used the voice of Xavier \”X\”, its head of Cultural Partnerships, and podcast host. It seems that the streaming service may now use this same technology for advertising. Bill Simmons, The Ringer’s founder, has stated that the streaming service will develop AI technology to allow podcast hosts to voice read ads without having to record and read the copy.

On a recent episode \”The Bill Simmons Podcast\”, Simmons said, \”There will be a method to use my voice in the ads.\” It is important to give your approval, but this opens up a lot of possibilities from an advertising perspective.

He said that these ads would open up new possibilities for podcasters, as they could create geo-targeted ads (like tickets to a local event held in the listener’s city) or create ads in other languages with the host’s permission.
