Sundar Pichai said that philosophers and ethicists should be involved in AI development to ensure it is moral and doesn’t lie.
Concerns about the ethics of this technology have grown as generative AI becomes more popular and companies rush into incorporating it into their business. Deepfake pictures of Donald Trump, the former president, being arrested have been circulated on the internet. Some testers found that AI chatbots would give tips about criminal activities such as how to murder someone.
AI has been known to hallucinate – make up false information and insist it is true – causing people to worry that it might spread false information. It can also become biased and has in some cases argued with its users. Scammers have used AI voice-cloning to pretend to be relatives.
Pichai asked, \”How can you create AI systems that are in line with human values and morality?\” Pichai said, \”I think that the development of AI systems needs to include social scientists, ethics, philosophers and others.\”
