Tesla will license Autopilot and Full Self-Driving technology to other OEMs
Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, said in a tweet yesterday that Tesla plans to license Autopilot to other companies and its Full Self-Driving Suite.
Tesla announced the news after recently striking a deal to open up its Supercharging Network to Ford. Ford also plans to adopt Tesla’s charging connector, which will eliminate the requirement for adapters.
Musk responded in a Tweet to an article about GM CEO Mary Barra’s comments on Tesla’s prowess with EVs. He said the company “aspires to help other car companies as much as possible,” mentioning a move made several years earlier that allowed its patents to be freely shared by other companies.
