The Berlin Conference Report: Exploring the Possibilities to Undo Aging

Uncovering the Ageing Process in the Viewfinder

LEAF Director Elena Milova reports on the Undoing Aging Conference in Berlin. The Forever Healthy Foundation hosted the conference, which brought together the top researchers in the field of aging.

After I returned from the Undoing Aging scientific conference, jointly organized by SENS Research Foundation & Forever Healthy Foundation in Moscow, the city welcomed me with its first sunny spring days. I am still tired, and lack sleep, but I’m happy and inspired to share with you my impressions from this year’s scientific conference.

In fact, I started preparing for the event when it was announced in autumn 2018. I had booked the hotel in advance and reserved some spare rooms which we could later transfer to our partners. B&B Alexanderplatz has a great social space right in the lobby and is literally next to the conference venue Umspannwerk Alexanderplatz. This makes it a convenient place to set up appointments with partners. I arrived at B&B Alexanderplatz on the 26th of March, took a quick nap, then went downstairs to start working while keeping an eye out for other guests.

Soon after I had sat down I was greeted by some familiar faces. Maria Entraigues Abramson and Gary Abramson were on their way. They came early to Berlin to coordinate preparations as part of the SRF organizers team. Then I met our very own Dr. Oliver Medvedik, and Jean Lam, his energetic friend. Anna Dobryukha is the head of the medical department of Komsomolskaya Pravda, and she’s one of the most famous Russian writers on aging.
