In lab dishes, embryos that are part human and part monkey have been grown
Scientists have injected human stem cells in developing monkey embryos and hybrids of the resultant hybrids have survived up to 20 days on lab dishes.
The authors of a study published in Cell on April 15, noted that these human-monkeys embryos may someday be useful models for human diseases, embryonic development, and aging. Scientists could learn more about how human cells can survive in the presence of animal cells by focusing on the interactions between human and animal cell in the embryos.
