The Existing Science on the Link between Vegan Diets and Health:

Vegan diets and longevity: What existing science actually says

The World Health Organization has classified processed meats as Group 1 carcinogens. The World Health Organization classifies processed meat as a Group 1 carcinogen. This includes hams, sausages, bacons, and pepperoni. They are meats that were preserved by salt, smoke, or chemical preservation. Formaldehyde and tobacco are also Group 1 carcinogens. The Group 1 carcinogens are deemed to have \”enough evidence\” that they can cause cancer.

It is beyond doubt that our current system of meat production is unsanitary, inhumane and bad for the environment. In the United States, almost all chickens (99.99%), turkeys (998.8%) and most cows (70.4%) are raised in factory farms. This practice has horrific consequences.

The EPA, for example, estimates that agriculture is the largest polluter of rivers and streams. Feedlots, crop production and manure runoff has led to almost half of U.S. rivers (46%) being in \”poor biological condition.\”

Scientific American explains that \”TDM-approved antibiotic-containing feed [are] necessary if [factory animals] are to remain healthy in their crowded manure-gilded homes.\” The use of antibiotics in industrial farming has been around for a long time. They also allow farm animals to grow faster with less food.
