The Future of Dental Treatment: Light-Activated stem cells for Tooth Repair

Laser therapy, which is noninvasive, could revolutionize dental care by directing stem cells towards the repair of teeth.

Harvard’s team was the first to report that low-power light can be used to trigger stem cells in the body to regenerate tissues. This breakthrough was reported by Science Translational Medicine. David Mooney, Ph.D. of the Wyss Institute Core faculty, is leading this research. It lays the groundwork for many clinical applications, including wound healing and bone regeneration.
