Clearing Senescent cells prevents T1 diabetes in mice
Scientists have found that removing non-dividing cells of senescent, which is normally associated with ageing, appears to also prevent Type 1 Diabetes in diabetic mouse strains.
The T1 diabetes can be prevented by clearing senescent beta-cells
Type 1 diabetes is a chronic disease in which the pancreas does not produce insulin or produces very little. Insulin is the hormone that allows glucose (sugar) to enter cells to create energy. It is therefore essential to life and cellular function.
