The Potential of Immortal Pancreatic Duct Ephelium Cell Lines: Achieving Near-Normal Genotype and Phenotype

Immortal human pancreatic duct epithelial cell lines with near normal genotype and phenotype

Circa 2000

Transduction of HPV16-E6E7 into primary cultures normal pancreatic epithelial duct cells resulted in immortal epithelial lines. Singular clones with a near-normal genotype and phenotype were isolated. Anchorage-dependent proliferation is observed in HPDE6 E6E7 c7 and C11 cells, which are nontumorigenic when tested on SCID mice. The cell lines showed many phenotypes typical of the normal pancreatic epithelium. These included mRNA expressions of MUC-1 and carbonic anhydrase, as well as cytokeratins 7,8,18, and 19.
