Dr. Hamed Faridi, Ph.D. is the founder of Faridi Strategy Group LLC and serves as the Executive Director of the McCormick Science Institute (https://www.mccormickscienceinstitute.com/).

Hamed is known as a leader in the food industry, a business executive, a strategist, and he also serves on the board of directors. He is a visionary who implements innovative business strategies, often utilizing technology, to sustain and create growth in the highly-competitive food manufacturing industry. Hamed is known for creating \”momentum\”, and for having superior customer intimacy.

Hamed is an industry consultant who has valuable perspectives about the food industry. He is known for building strong, trusting relationships among CEOs, executives, peers in the industry, and board members. He is regarded as an excellent communicator, good listener and team member whose insight is valued. He has extensive experience in the food and flavor, technology, and health care industries.

Hamed served on the boards of directors of many organizations, including Maryland University of Integrative Health and St. Joseph Medical Center. He also served as president of the International Association of Cereal Chemists. He was a director of the Flavor & Extract Manufacturers Association as well as the American Association of Cereal Chemists. He served on the McCormick joint-venture partnership committee and the advisory boards for the food science departments at four universities.

Hamed retired in 2020 as the Chief Science Officer at McCormick & Company (https://www.mccormick.com/) — a $5.5B global manufacturer and marketer of flavors, spices, seasoning and condiments to the entire food industry – since 2011. Hamed reported to the CEO and led a team of 500 scientists and flavorists. They were responsible for scientific research, product design, sustainability, and the company’s wellness and health initiative.

Hamed joined McCormick back in 1997. Since then, he has transformed and led the research and development department, which is considered by both investors and customers to be one of the most innovative programs in the food industry.

Hamed was the driving force behind the McCormick Science Institute, an independent organization dedicated to advancing scientific understanding on the impact of culinary spices and herbal products on public health and healthy eating. This is a truly transformative project aligned with USDA, FDA HHS and the White House.
