The risk of human extinction without life extension technology

We could be putting humanity at risk if we do not develop technology to extend life.

Many people are concerned about population growth, but perhaps we should be more worried about the decline in population?

– Norwegian version: Menneskeheten kan risikere a do ut hvis vi ikke utvikler livsforlengende teknologier

In the past, the population growth was restricted by the fact most children died before they could have their own children. Childhood mortality is likely to be high due to illness and lack of resources. Our technology has improved, allowing us to use Earth’s resources better. Today, most children survive childhood. The result has been a population boom. This has led to a population explosion.

The number of children has decreased as our standard of living has improved. In the last 50-year period, the fertility rate (number of children per woman) has decreased from 4.9 worldwide to less than 2.
