The unique gut bacteria of centenarians could unlock new ways to live longer

Centenarians are able to live longer because of their unique gut bacteria

TOKYO – According to new research, centenarians have unique gut bacteria which allows them to live a long life. Scientists from Japan claim that this unique gut composition fuels bile acid, which protects against disease.

This discovery could lead yogurts and probiotic foods to increase longevity.

In a South West News Service statement, Professor Kenya Honda from Keio University said that an enrichment of a specific set of gut bacteria generates unique bile acid. They might inhibit pathogens’ growth.
