Dr. Tohru Minamino is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Biology and Medicine, Juntendo University Graduate School of Medicine (https://juntendo-cvbm.com/en/about.html). He is also the Director of Cardiovascular Medicine at Juntendo University Hospital. He earned his MD at the Chiba University Graduate School of Medicine and his PhD at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tokyo.
Dr. Minamino, a medical doctor and researcher scientist, focuses on the molecular mechanisms that cause aging. His research began at Harvard Medical School in 1997-2000, focusing primarily on cardiovascular aging. His research interests are now growing to include the biology of ageing including metabolic pathways for longevity and senolysis. He has more than 100 publications, including Nature, Nature Medicine Cell Metabolism and Lancet.
Dr. Minamino is the recipient of several awards, including Satoh Memorial Award from Japanese Circulation Society and Erwin von Balz Award (first prize).
