Tufts University Breakthrough on Immortalized Bovine muscle stem cells for Meat Production: Unlocking Cellular Agriculture’s Potential

Breakthrough in cell agriculture: a game changer for the cultured meat industry

Researchers at Tufts University have developed immortalized bovine stem cells for cell agriculture. This could help overcome scaling issues for meat production.

Andrew Stout, Tufts University.

Cell-cultured meat is currently difficult to produce and costly because the muscle and fat cell needs to be able grow and multiply rapidly. Normal muscle stem cell can only divide 50 times before stopping to divide and dying. The immortalized cells created by the TUCCA group can divide indefinitely and produce more meat.
