Turn.Bio Professor Vittorio Sessato explores the possibilities of partial cellular reprogramming.

An Interview with Professor Vittorio Sebastiano, Turn.

Recently, we attended the Undoing Aging Conference held in Berlin. We had the chance to interview Professor Vittorio Sebastiao from Turn. Bio is a company that develops partial cellular programming techniques to reverse the aging of cells.

Our cells undergo epigenetic changes as we age. This, in turn changes gene expression. It is thought that this is the primary cause of aging. Recent interest has grown in resetting epigenetic markers and reversing cellular aging. Induced pluripotent cells (iPSCs) are created using similar techniques.

The goal of partial cellular reprogramming, however, is not to erase the cell identity, but to reset epigenetic aging marks in the cells. Researchers believe that only exposing cells aged over 30 years to reprogramming agents for a short period of time could be sufficient to reset the cellular aging process without causing them to forget their roles.
