Alzheimer’s Disease is linked to a common brain disease that mimics its symptoms
Researchers have identified a grouping of genes closely related that captures molecular connections between Alzheimer’s disease and LATE. LATE is a brain disorder that mimics Alzheimer symptoms.

Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia. While most people know someone affected, genetic factors are not well understood. Researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital have discovered a grouping of genes closely related that could capture molecular connections between Alzheimer’s and Limbic Predominant TDP-43 Encephalopathy (LATE), a newly recognized brain disorder which can mimic Alzheimer’s. LATE can be combined with Alzheimer’s to accelerate cognitive decline. The results of the study are published in Neuron.
