Anti-Alzheimer’s Protein Complex Is Identified
The new study on mice highlights the proteins that are responsible for LC3 associated endocytosis, an autophagy procedure that is involved in the degradation of b-amyloid – the main substance associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
Proteostasis
Aggregates are toxic, misfolded clumps of non-functional proteins in the brain. Proteostasis is the natural ability of the body to prevent these aggregates and remove them when they form. As we age, proteostasis declines. Loss of proteostasis, is a hallmark of aging. The accumulation of aggregates can lead to several deadly diseases. Alzheimer’s is one of them.
