Sugar and Aging – What you need to know
All that being said, humans are naturally drawn to and consume a limited amount of sugar. Here’s what I do for myself after doing all the research.
Foods high in fructose, for example, stimulate ghrelin and suppress leptin – hormones that regulate hunger and satiety. Sugar can cause chronic hyperglycemia which can lead to obesity and diabetes. Sugary drinks are directly linked to obesity.
What should we do?
Sugar consumption should be limited by people who want to remain young. Although the way added sugar affects the body is not simple or predictable there are thousands of studies that link added sugar with diseases of aging.
