Unlocking Cellular Aging : A Pathway to Dramatically Extend Human Lifespan

The cellular aging master circuit: A new hope for a longer human lifespan?

I hope that they receive funding.

SAN DIEGO – The average American lives until 75 or 80. But if there was a way to slow down aging and live for an additional couple of decades, would you do it? This is a complex question that involves a variety of philosophical, religious and social considerations. Since humans have been on this planet, they’ve thought about the possibility of an extended or immortal life. It’s just a dream, isn’t it?

According to new research from the University of California San Diego, not necessarily. The study led by UCSD bioengineers and molecular biologists made a breakthrough discovery about the complexities of cellular aging. Researchers say that in light of their findings the idea of \”dramatically extending\” human life is not so far-fetched.

The aging of each human cell determines the lifespan and rate of aging for that individual. The study’s researchers initially wanted to see if cells aged differently based on their stimuli/causes. In order to do so, the researchers studied the aging of budding yeast Saccharomyces Cervisiae. This model was useful for tracking aging mechanisms in various cell types.
