New bionics centre established at MIT thanks to $24 million donation
Understanding the brain better has opened up new possibilities for overcoming disability. Scientists and engineers use design cues taken from biology to create revolutionary technologies to restore the function of damaged bodies.
MIT’s K. Lisa Yang Center for Bionics is a new initiative that will help to develop and deploy technologies that can communicate directly with the nervous systems of people who suffer from a wide range of disabilities. Scientists, clinicians and engineers from the center will collaborate to develop, test and distribute bionic technologies that integrate both with the body and mind.
