Researchers at UCLA were able to guide pluripotent cells to become adult T cells. These are the cells that patrol our bodies to fight cancer and other diseases, and which have been trained in the thymi.

Gay Crooks M.D. is the senior author of this study published in Cell Stem Cell. She is a professor at UCLA of pathology, laboratory medicine, and pediatrics. Dr. Crooks, a professor of pathology and laboratory medicine and pediatrics at UCLA, is co-director of UCLA’s Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research.
