Interview with Dr. Leonid Pshkin

In this interview Dr. Leonid Peshkin provides insights on aging and discusses the dangers of over-optimism, as well as the role that machine learning can play in the study of age-related diseases.

Dr. Leonid Pishkin, a scientist who is determined but not complacent and grounded but hopeful, works to understand aging in order to one day treat it like any other illness.

In a mid-2018 interview with the Boston Globe, Leon revealed that the thought of losing himself and his loved ones due to aging was not something he could comprehend. He has always been preoccupied by aging, fearing it would take away his father who was nearly 60 years old when he was 10. Leon’s father died in July 2018 aged 96.

Dr. Peshkin is a 48 year old Russian from Moscow. He holds a Master’s in applied mathematics as well as a PhD in machine learning. He is currently working at the Systems Biology Department of Harvard Medical School. His primary interests include embryology, evolutionary theory, and aging.
