Dr Spring Behrouz, PhD — Mitophagy, CNS Disorders, And Aging — CEO, Vincere Bio / NeuroInitiative
Spring Behrouz Ph.D. is the CEO of Vincere Biosciences Inc./CEO of Neuroinitiative LLC. She has a special interest in CNS disorders, aging, and mitochondrial quality control (mitophagy).
Dr. Bahareh (Spring) Behrouz, PhD, is the CEO of Vincere Biosciences Inc (https://vincerebio.com/), a biotech company focused on developing novel, small molecule therapeutics targeting mitochondrial pathways and the improvement of mitochondrial quality.
Dr. Behrouz is also the CEO of NeuroInitiative, LLC (https://www.neuroinitiative.com/), a computational biology company she co-founded in 2014, which develops simulations of disease using their patented software platform. Her research at NeuroInitiative focuses on the elucidation and convergence of complex pathways that contributes to the pathogenesis Parkinson’s Disease (PD), a neurodegenerative brain disorder with dramatic effects on movement. Nearly one million Americans live with PD, while 10 million worldwide.
Dr. Behrouz completed her graduate training in Dr. John Goudreau’s laboratory at Michigan State University. She studied the differential susceptibility between dopaminergic sub-types of neurons in models of PD. She completed her postdoctoral training at the Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville in the lab of Dr. Matthew Farrer. There she focused on primary culture and in-vivo models of LRRK2-mediated disease pathogenesis.
