Newly discovered parasitic bacteria manipulation mechanisms that slow down plant ageing may offer new ways of protecting disease-threatened crops.
Parasites can manipulate organisms to meet their own needs in sometimes drastic ways. Some plants are transformed into \”zombies\” when they fall under the influence of parasites. They cease to reproduce and are only used as hosts and habitats for parasitic pathogens.
There has been a lack of understanding on the molecular level and how it works.
