Google’s Generative AI Platform is Now Available to Everyone
Google has announced the GA of generative AI services based upon Vertex AI. This is the Machine Learning Platform as a Service offering (ML PaaS), from Google Cloud. The service is now GA and enterprises can integrate its capabilities into their applications.
Developers can now use several new models and tools, including the PaLM 2 world completion model, the Embeddings API (for text) and other models from the Model Garden. The Generative AI Studio also offers tools to help them fine-tune, deploy and customize customized models. Vertex AI is also said to have enterprise-grade features for data governance, safety, and security. Customers can now feel confident in using the foundation models to customize them with their data and build generative AI applications.
Model Garden allows customers to evaluate and access base models of Google and its partners. Over 60 models are available, and there is a pals system for adding more models in the future. The Codey model, which was announced at the Google I/O Conference in May and allows for code completion, chat, code generation, etc., is also now available to the public.
