Interview with Dr. Steven Braithwaite, Alkahest
Since the 19th century, we have known that young blood can rejuvenate and heal. Strange, but true. Recent years have seen a surge in scientific research to determine what is it about young blood which causes rejuvenation.
It is now known that mice of all ages with their circulatory systems surgically connected will age differently: the young mouse ages prematurely, while the old mouse ages miraculously in some cases. It is called heterochronic parbiosis and is the reason for the excitement over the possibility of human rejuvenation using young plasma.
It is important to find ways to make these benefits more acceptable and less disruptive.
